Why do we need to learn English Grammar? Every language has certain rules which explain how the words are formed and how they are grouped to make meaningful sentences. Since English is the de facto official language and Urdu is the language of common people in Pakistan, we need to learn English Grammar in Urdu.
Grammar is defined as the set of rules that explains how the words are put together to make a sentence. It is the study of words and the ways words work together. So we have to understand the parts of speech if we want to learn English Grammar. Here, we will explain in Urdu each part of the speech. This will help you to learn English from Urdu.

Pronoun
کہلاتا ہے۔ Pronoun کی جگہ پر جو لفظ استعمال ہوتا ہے Noun
A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun or noun phrase.
کا دوبارہ تذکرہ کرنا ہو تو noun ہیں۔ اس ہی پیراگراف میں اگر اس ہی noun نیچے دیے ہوے جملوں میں بولڈ الفاظ
ہیں۔ pronoun ہوتا ہے۔ ان جملوں میں انڈرلائن الفاظ pronoun کی جگہ دوسرا لفظ استعمال ہوتا ہےجو noun
- Ahmed is a student.
- He is intelligent.
- Saira is a girl.
- She is playing with dolls.
- Jawed and Iqbal are brothers.
- They are coming today.
- I bought some grapes.
- Most were rotten.

1. Personal Pronoun
کا استعمال لوگوں، جگہوں یا چیزوں کو بدلنے کے لیے کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ جملے کو چھوٹا Personal Pronoun
اور واضح کیا جا سکے۔
Personal pronouns are used to replace people, places, or things to make sentences shorter and clearer.
یہ ہیں Personal Pronoun میں استعمال ہونے والے Subject
I, We, You, He, She, It, They
For Example:
- I am reading a book.
- She is reading a book.
- They are eating bananas.
یہ ہیں Personal Pronoun میں استعمال ہونے والے Object
Me, Us, You, Him, Her, Them, It
For Example:
- Give that pen to me.
- Food has been given to them.
- I will come back to you.
2. Possessive Pronouns
کہلاتے ہیں ،Possessive Pronoun جو ملکیت ظاہر کرتے ہیں pronoun ایسے
:جیسے
mine, ours, yours, his, hers, theirs, its
Examples of Possessive Pronoun:
- This book is mine.
- That copy is yours.
- The flowers are hers.
apostrophe (‘) کے آخر میں”S” ہوتا ہے، “S”سے پہلے Possessive Pronoun یہ یاد رکھیں کہ جن
کی علامت استعمال نہیں ہوتی۔
3. Relative Pronouns
کہلاتے ہیں۔ Relative Pronoun جو کسی شخص یا چیز سےنسبت ظاہر کریں pronoun ایسے
:جیسے
That, Which, Who, Whom, Whose, Whoever, Whichever, Whatever
For Example:
- Whoever wins the race will get a prize.
- A person whom people will elect will become Mayor of the city.
- I have to reach the office at 8.00 AM whatever happens.
4. Interrogative Pronouns
کہلاتے ہیں۔ Interrogative Pronoun, Pronoun سوالیہ انداز کے
Who, Whom, What, Which, Whose
Examples:
- Who ate my apple?
- Where is he?
- What did you play?
5. Reflexive And Emphatic Pronouns
کہتے ہیں۔ Reflexive Pronoun کو Pronoun جس کے بارے میں بات کی جارہی ہو اُسی کی طرف اشارہ کرنے والے
myself, ourselves, himself, yourselves, herself, themselves, itself.
بن جاتے ہیں ، جب اُن میں زور دینے Emphatic Pronouns ہی Reflexive Pronoun
کے ساتھ ملا دیا جائے Main pronoun کو Reflexive Pronoun کا عنصر شامل ہوجاتا ہے۔ اگر
توزور دینے کا عنصر آجاتا ہے۔
:مثال کے طور پر
I will lead the team myself.
کو تبدیل کرکے
I myself will lead the team.
کر دیا جائے تو اس میں زور دینے کا تائثر آجائے گا۔
6. Demonstrative Pronouns
کہلاتے ہیں۔ Demonstrative Pronoun جو کسی شخص یا چیز کی طرف اشارہ کریں pronoun ایسے
This, These, That, Those
Examples:
- That is the toy I wanted to purchase for my son.
- When purchasing food avoid those giving a bad smell.
7. Indefinite and Distributive Pronouns
.کہلاتے ہیں Indefinite Pronoun جو کسی مخصوص شخص یا چیز کے بجائے عام اشارہ کریں pronoun ایسے
one, few, all, some, any, somebody, nobody, no one, many, more, most, some, others
Examples:
- One of them was a thief.
- Nobody knew the real facts.
- Many are called but few are selected.
Distributive Pronoun
جو ایک سے زیادہ اشخاص اور چیزوں کی طرف ایک ہی وقت میں اشارہ کریں pronoun ایسے
Either, Neither, Each, Every, Both
- Either you take this mango or you take that mango.
- Neither the Prime Minister nor the Minister was present.
