On Rising of Prices

A Letter to the Editor of a newspaper on rising of prices.

The Editor,

The Dawn.

Lahore.

Sir,

I want to enlighten public opinion on the rising prices of different provisions of life in the country.

We are aware that the prices of essential goods of life are skyrocketing. Vegetables and fruits are selling at a very high price. They have reached beyond the buying capacity of a common person. Prices of mutton and beef have already gone beyond the reach of the common names. This cheap means of getting protein has been denied to people. The prices of cloth, shoes, and readymade garments are also out of the reach of a common man. It has become very difficult for a common man to arrange milk for children. The price of pulses and other provisions of daily life has risen to the maximum.

Everybody knows that the wages of the majority of the population are very limited and meager. Two-thirds of the population of our country live under the line of poverty. They have neither houses to live in, nor sufficient food to live on. They are leading a very miserable life. They make both ends meet with great difficulty. The recent price hike has made their life miserable. They feel worried and nervous at the trend of the price of daily provisions of life.

The government should adopt define economic measures to ease the situation.

Yours sincerely,

A.B.C.
