I want to bring to your kind notice the malpractices of the WAPDA meter readers.

The WAPDA meters in all the big cities of the country have become notorious for cheating and fraud. They enjoy great powers in the discharge of their duty. They do not visit the permits of a house, factory, hospital, or building. They prepare bogus bills and go on harassing the public. They accept illegal gratification and bribes and record very low units of electricity. In this way, they help the people steal electricity. Sometimes, they make false complaints against people and blame them for the theft of electricity.

The consumers are threatened and forced to bribe them; otherwise, they have to face a trial in a court of law.

The following measures should be adopted to stop the highhandedness of the meter readers:

Only honest and responsible people should be appointed to the post of meter readers.
If a meter reader is found corrupt and guilty of a certain charge, he must be punished severely.
The media should start a campaign against the ill use of the powers by the meter readers of WAPDA.
